Maintaining a Healthy Heart




When it comes to the overall health of men and women today, it is important that we all take the time to consider the health of our heart. As you may already know, if you are already suffering from an unhealthy heart you are setting yourself up for health complications within your future that can be life threatening. Heart disease can strike men and women alike. Age is no longer a factor in heart disease because of the unhealthy diet we all have been utilizing for so many years. It is important to understand that the convenient lifestyle we have all been living for so many years may be the number one factor for heart disease today.

Let’s go through some of the most basic tips to consider when taking care of your heart health.

  • Quit smoking

  • Change your diet to include high in fibre foods and low in saturated fats

  • Try to eat at least 5-9 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables a day

  • Always choose low fat dairy products

  • Maintain a healthy weight

  • Conduct at least 30minutes of physical activity 3-4 times a week (walking, running, bicycling, etc.)

  • Make healthy goals for your cholesterol levels

  • Make healthy goals for your blood pressure levels


This may seem like an overwhelmingly long list of goals and tips to keep your heart healthy, but it is easier than you think. Heart disease is stated to be the leading cause of death in men and women today, but it does not have to be this way.

Everyone has their own level of risk factors when it comes to heart disease whether it is located within the family tree or is directly related to your age or race. By utilizing the ability to take advantage of these risk factors and do what you can do reduce them through natural steps and tips you are therefore eliminating your risk of heart disease throughout the duration of your life.

Prevention methods really do pay off and if you take the following steps and tips listed above to help you maintain a healthy heart you can live a healthy life and retirement. What we lack in our society today is consistent activity, healthy eating and the ability to make healthy choices wherever we are. When we are able to see these flaws in our current lifestyle we can alter them accordingly to begin promoting a healthy weight, blood pressure levels and cholesterol levels; everything contributes to a healthy heart.
